A word from Balangara Films founder, Mark Pearce:
“My work is focused on both the macro and microcosm concerns of society. As an activist, I’ve realised you can create all the bottom-up activism in the world, but none of it will actually make a real impact with fairer outcomes unless we also have a top-down approach. Hence, I aim to deliver genuine stories, which can lobby governments to change, implement or recommend changes to policy, legislation, and wrongful statute laws.
Balangara Films has been a driver to create advocacy stories with an emphasis on the natural world and natural systems; including people’s connection with nature, natural law, self-sovereignty, human rights and health.
This stems from an inner desire to return to the garden – the garden within. The truth of the human story has been hijacked by some of the highest echelons of society over the last 12,800 years and this needs to be resolved and reclaimed.
As governments around the world continue to shut-down our democracies, the voices of everyday people struggling against global agendas are also quashed. Thus, I’ve dedicated myself as a storyteller to raise awareness and manifest change in the world through disseminating powerful voices that ignite a flame of truth so bright that their issues of concern cannot be absorbed by darkness any longer.
These consciousness-in-action stories impact viewers through truth information, aesthetics, and emotion. This work transforms viewers into agents of change through working closely with small and large organisations all over Australia, screening films across hundreds of communities to create common unity.
We also disseminate our films through NGO social media channels, as well as mainstream and alternative press outlets. Film festivals and educational platforms have also allowed our stories to tap into wider audiences beyond the shores of Australia.
Apart from producing more social impact films for organisations in need of campaign tools, a longer-term aim, which I’m currently working on, is to create ‘films for narrative therapy’; Personal stories to support individuals with diverse abilities. The idea is to then utilise these stories as an educational tool for community engagement and social impact. So stay tuned for the next journey of change makers to create a better and fairer world.” –Mark Pearce, Creative Producer
